About Me
Name: Chelle Y.

I am a mother of one beautiful six year old boy, and I am a Die-hard Oakland A's fan. I was a history and algebra teacher for nine years before my son came into my life, then became a stay-at-home mom. That has been one of my greatest joys.

I love to play the piano and now I teach other children how to play piano too.

Thursday Thriteen #34 (Thirteen Things That Drive Me Crazy!)

Wednesday, October 25, 2006 3:06 PM

Okay, I am in a feisty mood, so I decided to list the thirteen things that drive me crazy or my thirteen pet-peeves.  (See, Jay, I am not always positive!  LOL!)  ***Note to readers:  I was not thinking of anyone while I wrote these, so please do not think I am talking about anyone in general.

Crying_Baby_Thursday13_Banner.jpg

  1. Adults saying the word, Like,” all the time.  For example, “I have not been able to do that in like forever!” or, “He like is such a big pain!”  Okay, you are not a teenager.  This is not the 80’s!  So, like, stop it!  :)  (You really sound stupid).
  2. Saying, anyways, instead of, anyway.  Okay, I will admit.  I have been guilty of this one.  It is easy to do.  So, anyways, I am learning to stop saying it too.  :)
  3. Ending a sentence with the word, at, or ending it with a preposition.  I hate hearing someone say, “Where’s he at?”  or “Come with.”  You can blame my English teacher for that one.  (That is the only thing I remember from high school.  Haha!)
  4. Overusing the “F” word.  Okay, I know.  I know.  Some of my readers use that word, but I am talking, every other word in your sentence here.   I can understand if you’re angry, and if you use it to describe something, but some people use it, “just to use it.”  It shows your lack of intelligence. :)
  5. I hate the phrase, “All that matters, is what makes you happy!”  Come on.  That is the most selfish statement I have ever heard.  It’s just as bad as when you hear a child say, “That’s mine!”  I am not saying we should not be happy.  I want to be happy too, but if we live our lives with the thinking, “It’s all about me!” then we are going to die a lonely, selfish person.  Oh, you might be happy now, but just wait, it will not last.  True happiness comes from living for others.  No, not letting them push you around, that’s not is at all.  Try it.  You’ll see.
  6. People who talk about themselves all the time.
  7. People who complain.  Now, I am preaching to the choir on this one.  Haha.  I still hate it.
  8. People who talk with food in their mouth or chew with their mouth open.
  9. People who do not say please or thank you.
  10. Slow drivers or people who drive parallel with the car in the next lane so you cannot pass them.  (I am not saying to speed here, just drive the speed limit, or move out of the way!) :)
  11. Politicians, especially during this time of year.  Stop calling me!  I already voted!  :)
  12. Going to the post office!  I would much rather pay a little more and go to the UPS store where there is no line.
  13. People who are so selfish that they do not care who they hurt in the process.  (This is another thing that I am watching with myself).

Screaming baby banner was taken from Denise’s lovely collection.

  1. I have a lot of the same peeves..I am glad I am not the only one

  2. Who are you and what have you done with Miss Positive Chelle? Haha! Just kidding….it’s about time you post some rants on here. What else is it for, if not an outlet? AnywayS….enjoy tacos tonight, you little chef you!
    Love, Nikole

  3. A great T13. I think I’m gonna re-use this list as my own ;)

Right up there with the talking with food in one’s mouth, I’d have to include smacking one’s food. Ugh! I hate smacking.

  4. A lot of those pet peeves are mine as well especially th grammatical ones. It’s just wrong. I get this urge to correct them even when I don’t know who they are.

    I’m up!

  5. Now, that’s more like it! A little negativity. hahaha

“People who talk about themselves all the time.” OOPS! That’s bloggers! LOL

  6. WOW. I could have written this…HA.

    Happy TT!

  7. I am totally with you on all of them.
I have a not so positive TT too this week.
must be something in the water!

hope you have a great weekend!

  8. Amy: I am happy to hear that. I kind of felt badly posting this. Haha, go figure! :)

Nikole: I made up for my “thankful” list from last week. I will be nice in my next few TT’s. I am allowed one now and then, right?

Mike: I hate that, too. I guess that can be included in #8.

Kay: I will not correct anyone, except for my son, but I do notice it. I was not a great student in English class, but that is the one thing that I remember to this day.

Jay: This post is dedicated to you, my friend! :) The “nice” Chelle will be back next week. Oh, and blogging does not count. Well, I guess it depends on who is doing the blogging! Hehe!

Tug: Happy TT to you! I’ll be reading your post in a few minutes!

Amy: Thanks for stopping by to read my “negative” TT. I’ll be by your post soon!

  9. The post office is definitely the worst…..I always use UPS whenever possible.

Don’t worry, we all have to gripe every once in a while. I even have a couple of gripes on my list this week.

  10. This one’s even scarier than mine!

  11. Thank you for the GG recap!!

  12. LOL Chelle! I must say, that ending sentences with prepositions is the norm here since most of the population is Pennsylvania Dutch and that’s just the way they do it. I must admit, I didn’t even know that it was wrong until I went to college and people started looking at me funny when I’d say, “I’m going to the store. Do you want to go with?” LOL! Oy.

I’m happy to report that 4 years at college as an English major has broken me of this bad habit, but I did do it for the first 17 years of my life. [sigh]

    Allison

  13. Tracie: Post Offices are bad enough, but I swear the workers at the P.O. where I live wait until there is a huge line, then all go on break at the same time. It drives me crazy! :)

Anthony: I told you, and your post was pretty bad too! Just kidding!

Tracie: You’re welcome. I am still upset that I missed SVU.

Allision: I said that in high school, too. I lived in N.J. for eight years of my life, and that is how we said things. My English teacher was constantly correcting us. Poor, lady! :)

  14. 4, 5, and 11 are particular sore spots with me, too! Great list. :)

    My TT is up, too!

  15. I am with you on the “like” thing. When I entered college I decided it was time to stop using “like”…I also had to watch my umms and had to stop putting okay at the end of every sentence. It’s worked for me so far ~ I feel really great about it, too.

My 13 is up if you wanna drop by! Happy Thursday!

  16. OMG, I think I wrote this list! Are you sure we’re not related? I live in a tourist town. Come visit me; I’ll show you every single item on your list in 15 minutes! It’ll drive you nuts! It does me! Anyway, Happy TT and have a great weekend.
    DK

  17. I say \”like\” a lot — well, when it\’s appropriate, like right now….LOVE #2 — hate the word \”anyways\”…it\’s ANYWAY!!! Thank you for spreading the word!! :)

  18. Even your “negative” posts invoke smiles!! :) I agree with ALL and I’m sure I could add 13 more. Double negatives make me cringe. I COMPLETELY agree with the F word. That is my least-favorite word in the English language. I basically dislike all curse/slang words. If my boys use any (which is EXTREMELY rare, since it has been engrained in them not to), I always remind them that there are more intelligent choices. (Although I am not always perfect in this area, having six little ears around definitely helps me choose my words carefully.) We can send our kids to the best schools, but often children mimic what they hear at home from their “heroes” - their moms and dads… Okay, gotta go. Oh, one more thing - I can’t stand burping at the table… yuck!

  19. Good list….many of my pet peeves made your list. I think it’s interesting to see what makes people upset. I can usually handle the big things….it’s the small things that really irk me.

  20. great list! i’m guilty of #1… hahaha…

  21. Southern Girl: It took awhile to read your post because of Blogger, but it was a good one. I agree with the GG plot. I like the Luke and Lorelai relationship better.

Janene: Thanks for stopping by my site. I do not like the \”umm\” either or \”you know.\” Those are the ones that I have to work on myself.

DK: That\’s too funny. No, I do not think we are related! :)

Haley: You\’re young. You have the right to say, \”like!\” Haha!

Debbie: So happy to make you laugh. You are probably one of my friends who knows me best. You have to put up with my moods, which makes you a true friend! Have a nice trip! I\’ll miss you! :)

Lazy Daisy: Since I am not the most patient person in the world, the little things bug me the most! I am constantly working on it.

    Jo:  That\’s okay.  You said, \”anyway.\”  :)

  22. Negative people are such a drain on everyone around them! I think #7 is dead on!
Can I add people who are rude to their own children? Everybody has a bad day, but if you can’t even be polite to your loved ones, It’s time for some soul searching. My least favorite are the folks who tell small children to shut up.

  23. Saying “F” is not very pleasing to the ear. For me I consider it to be a bad word and so I never use it.
    Thanks for passing by.

  24. great list - it wasn’t completely negative…. I can tell you really think selfish people should beat their eyeballs out with a rubber mallet, but anyways… :)

  25. I just read a book and the author used the word “apparently” so often I was ready to scream before I finished it.

    Happy TT!

  26. For english I don’t have to worry I don’t know all that except what I learned in grammar and what I look up in my dictionnary. So I am very limited even for exclamations I usually do like ups (maybe ooops ?)boff (do you say that ?) or grrr (arrrrgh ?) it’s also not in the dictionary. So what I did, reading through blogs I note down the exclamations !
I have already : yiks, he,he, arrrgh, wow, urgh. Do you know some more ?? Besides that I agree to all what you said. lol !!

  27. Jenn: I agree with you on adults who are rude to their children. I never understand why some people would even have children if they treat them that way.

Friday’s Child: I do not say that word either. My dad would have washed my mouth out with soap! Haha!

Tess: Maybe not their eyeballs, that would hurt too much. LOL!

Mysterious Lady: That would drive me crazy too. Apparently, he must like that word! :)

Gattina: Hey, but you can speak two languages. That is more than some of us can now. I was talking about the people who should know better.

  28. So many comments already … I am too scared to comment, I might just LIKE get myself into to trouble!!!
Do you know why we blog … cos we like talking about ourselves …. ha ha ha. I love you TT list. Thanks for sharing it :O

Come on over and read about the 13 reasons why we should embrace life.

  29. I am guilty of saying LIKE all the time. :(

  30. 4 and 10 are some of my pet peeves too. :) Great list!

  31. Like I’m so with you. 25 years ago, people said “now” all the time inserting it everywhere. I think it is a form of stuttering as you grasp for a word.

You never disappoint us Chelle Y.

    My TT is up
    TT

  32. I agree with all of them especially number 11. Politicians are the root of all evil!

  33. Great list! Dosn’t it feel great to let it all out from time to time? ;-)
    Thanks for stopping by!

  34. So anyways, where’s my happy Chelle at? It’s effing morning and I’m not effing happy because she keeps complaining, and anyways, that doesn’t make me happy, like.

    >:)

  35. So glad it’s not just me!

  36. Very awesome TT list.

  37. Great list. Sometimes you just have to let it all out, then you feel all clean inside. For a few minutes anyway. I’m with you on the anyways/anyway thing. It’s very, very minor, and I’ve never said anything about it to anyone, but that one always gives me a tic. I’m not sure why. I went to Louisiana public schools and can butcher the English language with the best of them, so I shouldn’t care, but I do.

  38. So with you on a lot of these!

    Mines up! Happy TT!

  39. I had to laugh at the “at” one. I would ask my Mom “where are you at?” and she would say “between the A and the T ” never end in a preposition! “yes MOM!” hehehe..

I hope all is well. Still think and praying for ya gal. Thanks for coming over and visiting my blog =)

  40. Alot of these things bother me too. I used to have neighbors who thought the “F” word was the only word in the dictionary and used it with their children too. I hate when they swear at their kids from toddler age. Great list.

    I’m up too.

  41. I especially agree with #13. I wrote a whole post just about people who act oblivious to the rest of the world. I called them “bubble dwellers.” My favorite example is the guy down the street from me who did some gardening and threw every rock he found out into the middle of the street. As if they just disappeared into the vast universe once they were no longer in his own yard. Hello?

    Thanks for visiting my Th.Th.

  42. Most of those things drive me crazy too LIKE…he he My mom used to get soooo mad at me when I was a teen because I always said “like” in my sentences…..sometimes I catch myself doing it to this day. I guess I’m one of those people who would annoy you! :) By the way, I did your list that you wanted me to…you can check out my answers.

  43. Love your list. Like I totally get it. Anyway, I actually did one this week. I actually remembered it was Thursday when I woke up. It wasn’t hard this week because I am off work today…yippeeeeee

  44. i’m usually quite articulate and occassionally i correct grammar…but sometimes a good like makes sense…so i use it…it’s the teenagers who use like after every word, like you know what i, like, mean?

  45. that’s a great list. I’m going to try #5, maybe it’ll make me happier :-)

  46. Ooh, great T13! I hate to admit, but I’m guilty of #2 (anyways) and #3 (at, as in where’s he at?!)… Yuck. I need to break those habits. And I’m totally in agreement with the drivers. I have alot of pet peeves when it comes to other drivers. The ones who pull out and make me slam on brakes, and the ones who pull into the intersection at a red light and block it for the other flow of traffic are my biggies.

Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by my T13 earlier!

  47. Oh dear…I say “like” a lot. But…I have a 17 year old daughter…she makes me do it! I’ll stop when she, like, grows up. ::looks at the ceiling and whistles::

Hehe some of your pet peeves are the same as mine! I am somewhat of a grammar/spelling freak. It drives my husband crazy.

  48. Wow. Do we share a mind? Your list made me smile; my dad was an English teacher and we never got away with hanging participles or “anyways.”

Hope you have a great day with minimal nuisances.

  49. Addie: Thanks for “like” commenting “like” on my “like” site this morning. “Like” have a nice day! :)

Suki: I think I say it sometimes too. The 80’s were a big part of my life.

Tiffany: It’s nice that someone else agrees with me. Thanks for stopping by!

Norma: You’re so sweet. I’ll be back to my “positive” ways next Thursday! Haha!

Andrea: Especially, when they want your vote! :)

    Tink: Yes, it does! :)

Kim: You’re too funny. Like I said, Daddy would have washed my mouth out with soap. I was not even allowed to take God’s name in vain, even when we did not go to church. :)

    Celfyddydau: Me, too! :)

    Michelle: Thank you!

John: I know, it’s a little thing. I always want to correct the person saying it too, but I would not do that. I’ll correct my son. :)

Hailey: I’ll get by and read your list soon! Thanks for stopping by here.

Laurel: You had a good mom. Thanks for praying.

Ma: I hate the word anyway, but more so when it is used around children. My son thinks that “stupid” and “shut-up” are bad words. Haha!

Julie: That is actually funny. Horrible, but funny!

Gracey: You’re mom is so cool! I’ll be by to read your answers later.

Eagle Lover: Haha! Enjoy your day off!

Ali: Like, I really do! :)

Janet: I work on it all the time. It’s too easy to be selfish, but being a mom changes that because you do not have a choice. Well, you do, but I do not want to be a horrible mom.

Stacy: Those kind of drivers drive me nuts, too! Thanks for stopping by!

  50. OMG! Number 10 does it for me! I have no problem with slow drivers as long as they don\’t block traffic. Can\’t tell you how many times I\’ve seen freeway traffic back up all because some semi-mindless driver won\’t speed up and/or change lanes!
People in Overland Park, KS (suburb of Kansas City) have no idea what a passing lane is?

  51. Tiggerprr: I taught high school for nine years, and found myself talking like a teenager all the time. Now, I talk like a six year old! Haha!

Melissa: I do not think I would have been able to live with an English teacher. :) Most of my close friends as an adult were English teachers, so they all helped me in that area. (I taught history at a small private school, and the nine years I was there, the school had three different English teachers. I became close to all of them). My dad was the math wiz.

Eddie: Too funny. It is the same way here sometimes. Drives me insane! :)

  52. Everyone has to have a little time to **SCREAM** about what pisses us off. Gripe on.

    Cindi

  53. Yes indeedy! And I can’t stand people who wear pants that don’t cover their underwear. I realize that I live a secluded life but that just makes my jaw drop.

  54. Oh, and The Devil Wore Prada was hilarious…are you liking it at all? When I read stuff about NYC, it’s like it’s a different culture entirely.

  55. Oh my, you and I have quite a lot in common! I did a pet peeves list for last week’s TT and we have some of the same things!

    Happy TT!

  56. I couldn’t stop at a list of just thirteen…especially when it comes to grammatical errors. That just drives me CRAZY! Great list!

  57. This is a great list. I have to admit that overuse of the f-word is one of my biggest problems.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  58. Being from CA, and the OC, I’ve found myself typing “like” alot, I try not too, but “like” it’s a hard habit to break. (J.K.)
Your #8 and #9 would be on my list too! My mom always had us say please and Thankyou, and if we ever said the F word we’d either have soap or Tabasco. Great list.
    Happy Thursday, Chelle!

  59. I love your T13 logo!
I can also relate to most of the stuff on your list! I had to deal with the driving one this morning!

  60. Cindi: Thanks for giving me the \”approval!\” :)

Lori: Yes, that might show our \”age\” but I think it looks tacky too.

Sadie: I think I remember your list. You probably gave me the idea in the first place. :)

Heather: It was hard to stop at 13. I could have written SPAM too. :)

    Crazy Fat Chick: Thanks.

Christine: I used Tabasco sauce too. It\’s been a long time! All I had to do was just put it one the counter and my son would stop fighting with the little boy that I babysat. :)

S:  Thanks.  Denise has some great logos!

  61. thanks for visiting my TT!

my ex husband used to chew with his mouth open, and make the worst smacking noises ever. one of many reasons he’s now my ex.

i could make a whole TT list of grammatical errors that drive me crazy. maybe i will next week….

    have a great day!

  62. Great list!! I hate when adults say Like.. it goes through me! LOL

  63. I think I am guilty of some listed in your list! When I read it I was like, “Oh no, I’m like, so not polite!” Anyways, I will work on them. I have to watch my whatevers too.

    Hehehehh!!!

  64. I am so with you on 6, 8 & 9.
I don’t drive but just watching how people park in our lot is enough to keep me from ever learning.
How they get licenses is beyond me.
    Take care,
    Frances

  65. Oh, I hate when people say that thing about being happy! Because you know what? No one said we get to be happy all the time! It is NOT all that matters. Or comfortable! People and their need to be happy all the time!! (see what I did there? hehehe) Life is not about being happy all time. It is about living and learning, and we can\’t always learn the important things if we are happy and cozy all the time. AND you hurt other people when you think this way. This is why so many kids don\’t have dads. This is why so many kids have parents who use drugs and don\’t take care of them. This is why people get into debt. Gah!

    :)

  66. I love it when you get all feisty.

  67. Carrie: That\’s too funny! I never heard of anyone leaving their husband over food smacking! Just kidding!

Tammy: Thanks. Now, that I wrote that, I am sure I am going to be saying that \”like\” all the time. Go, figure!

Diane: I really was \”preaching\” to the choir when I listed those things. Well, except for the cussing. I was never allowed to say \”bad\” words.

Frances: You must have had a mom who taught you great manners!

Amber: You\’re so right, and you did make me laugh. I had to \”edit\” you out because my dad reads my blog. Remember, he will probably still wash my mouth out with soap, even if I was not the person who said it. Haha! (Hey, you did get your point across very well! LOL!)

Melissa: Does this mean I am going to start acting like you and Amber? LOL!

  68. Good list! I agree with just about everything. Our PO closes at 4:45. Isn’t that simply rediculous! Grrr!

  69. A great list!! Numbers 1, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 all really annoy me too… among some of the others!

Thanks for stopping by my site earlier!!

  70. LOL this is great!!

  71. I have a BIG problem with selfish people too.

And people who get behind me at the grocery store, then sigh and whine cause they’re waiting with only one or two things and my carts full–when there are 4 self-checkouts open, they’re just too lazy to scan their own stuff!!!

  72. agreed with your list.

An interesting triva thing — I always hated the ending sentences with “at” because it was improper — or so I was taught…
I finally looked it up, and it’s not considered improper. It is considered old english. I thought his was a funny take on it: http://www.cbc.ca/news/indepth/words/prepositions.html

    Blessings,
    Karla

    http://fruition-designs.com

  73. What bothers me more is folks who don\’t teach their KIDS to say please and thank you. Or any real manners for that matter. \”They\’re just being kids.\” No they\’re not, they\’re being snotty little brats who are doomed to grow up into snotty big adults. WAH!

Thanks for stopping by my Thursday 13 today!

  74. I totally agree with you!

  75. I am like, really guilty of like, #1. I think when you have little kids, or are at least around them a lot (I was a teacher for 10 years), it’s addictive. I agree, though.

I also hate when people (even hubby does it) uses the term “don’t” instead of “doesn’t.” He “don’t” have anything. UGH!! Unfortuntaely, a LOT of grown ups do it, and it’s almost accepted!

And yeah. The “f” word. It used to be SO offensive, but now it’s just as easily used as the other words. I agree..if you’re mad, hey…oh well…but GEEZE! There are kids within earshot!

Which also leads me to say…I hate when grown people don’t know when it’s NOT ok to swear!! Let’s have a little respect for some folks, ya know!!

Ah, if only everyone were was perfect as we are, right? ;-)

  76. *Takes a bite of food* So anyways… There was like, this f’n postal dude and he was like, “Where’s it at?” And…

Did you grind your teeth a little bit while reading that? hehe Great list.

  77. Most of those things drive me crazy, too. I do like our post office though — very helpful folks (which I know isn’t true in all POs), and I can sometimes catch them when they’re not too busy.

  78. The major thing that drives me absolutely bonkers is when my computer is SLOW. I also hate when cabbies get stuck in traffic and the ticker gets higher and higher. It’s very stressful. Nice list! Thanks for visiting mine!

  79. Wow.. I like have so many of like the same peeves ya know..lol Sorry I just had to do it. A friend and I got on a girl the other day about using “like” constantly. My friend actually sat back and counted how many times she used it one night..lol It was an insane amount.

Thank you for the prayers :)

  80. Man, am I like having one of these days! haha I totally agree!!!!

  81. Kathleen: Now, why would they do that? Most people do not get off work until 5:30 or 6:00. Grrrr is right!

My 2 cents: It sounds like someone with your blog “title” would agree with some of those on my list! ;)

Mama Duck: Thanks for stopping by today!

Danielle: Yep, I agree with you on the grocery store thing. I would much rather pay the extra money and have it delivered to me. :)

Karla: Thanks for the information. I am going to go back and read it. It still sounds weird, don’t you think?

Chaotic Mom: Yep. I am quilty of making excuses for my son too sometimes. Well, at least he knows how to say please and thank you.

Cheryl: Thanks! Have a great weekend!

Becky: Right. If you have so swear, please just do not do it in front of my six year old son. :) Oh, and I agree with the “don’t” too.

Tink: You’re too cute. No, I did not grind my teeth. I actually laughed out loud, then felt stupid, because I am home alone. :)

Barbara: You are so lucky to have a nice post office. I know P.O. workers get a bad rap sometimes, but it really is horrible in this town. Yuck!

Buttercup: I am just lucky enough that I do not have to depend on cabbies. That would drive me crazy, especially since I do not usually carry a lot of cash with me. :)

Presentstorm: You’re so welcome. I like to count how many times a person being interviewed will say, “you know.” I am so guilty of saying that, especially when I am nervous.

Annamary: I hope your day gets better!

  82. Ah, the slow drivers…..so with you on that ;)
Thanks for visiting my TT :D

  83. people who chew gum like cows is mine….especially when they are in service oriented jobs. nothing turns my stomach more than a waiter, sales clerk, nurse, etc who is chewing their cud while serving me.
    UGH!
    great list.
thanks for visiting my tt this week….i think that boy wearing the A’s cap on my list is a lucky man, he is with my first born daughter. ;)

  84. Hmmm, acting like Amber and me? I don’t know…would that be a good thing? LOL

  85. I think a lot of people find it offensive when someone uses the ‘f’ word or bad language in general. So, to me, I think using this language is not only showing a lack of intelligence, it is also showing a lack of respect for others. The bottom line is that such words are just a bunch of phonograms put together to make a word. When you use them for their shock value, though, You are trying to illicit a certain response from those around you. You are moving into the “All that matters, is what makes you happy!” category.

Making oneself happy at someone else’s expense, will ultimately make one unhappy. God made us to serve one another and our greatest happiness comes from doing so. Because, in doing so, we are serving him.

And, by the way, I need to work on the talking about myself thing. I think I am getting better, but I tend to do it when I am in a group setting and trying to fit in. Someone will say something or other about what they did, will be doing, or have already done and I end up trying to fit in by telling all about something similar that I did, will be doing, or have already done. I think it is my desperate attempt to fit in and just shows a lack of “social” security.

  86. Great TT. Isn’t it awful just how many people neglect to use common courtsy?? I have my son say “good manners cost nothing, you are never too poor to have manners” as often as I can!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by mine. Happy TT!

  87. Great TT! I completely agree with #11!

  88. Love your list! I always like to know what drives other people crazy! I totally agree with #9 :) Thanks for visiting my Blog. I enjoyed my 1st TT!

  89. Anneberit: You\’re welcome. Like I said, they do not have to speed, just go the speed limit or the flow of the traffic. ;)

Laura: I could have easily put that one in too. I do not like to chew up for that reason. If I do not have any mints, I will chew it in the car, before I arrive at my destination, then I will spit it out (in the garbage can, of course. Haha)

Oh, and he must be a great man if he is wearing an \”A\’s\” cap! :)

Melissa: It would not be a bad thing. Well, maybe sometimes. LOL! ;)

Firefly: I totally agree with you. It is a lack of respect. Like I said, I can usually shrug it off depending on how it is said, and only if my son is not there to hear it.

Tizzie: My son was just telling me today that he was learning manners in school. Good for his teacher! :)

    ChupieandJsmama: Yep. Thanks! :)

Sue: Thanks for stopping by here too. I hope you will continue being a part of the TT Family!

  90. I haven’t had too much trouble with the post office. I agree with the rest of the things on your list. We all need to vent sometimes. I have been so cranky recently that I felt compelled to do a positive list.

    Thanks for visiting my TT.

  91. Well we better not speak! hehehe! I was label the Master of Similes when I was in junior high and still use the word like … not on purpose really it just like gives me time to think.

  92. I can’t stand people who say anywho instead of anyway *grrrr*

  93. Your list is very similar to what mine would be! LOL

    Happy TT!

  94. You touched on MANY of my pet peeves. Lately everything is a pet peeve though. Like, I totally can’t wait for, like, this mood to go away. ;)

  95. Yep…I see a lot of my pet peeves in there too. Great list!

Thanks for stopping by…and happy TT!

  96. I have a lot of grammer related peeves too. The one that makes me the most irritated is the nauseous in place of nauseated. Unless of course you are intending to confess that you make people sick! But I hear it is too late, that even the dictionary compilers have given up and new dictionaries have the \’new definition\’ included because the consensus of the English speaking community has reached a tipping point.

I was lectured on that particular one by both a grandmother and a great aunt who had been teachers. That one among others but that was one of the few that stuck. I know I make grammer mistakes that would make them both cringe today. I tend to absorb language–vocabulary and cadence and pronunciation–from those around me as well as TV, movies, and books and then mimic it back. It is a good skill to have as a writer of fiction so I guess I\’ll just go with it

Happy TT and thanx for the visit.

  97. Gail: You’re lucky to have a good post office in your area.

Chelle: Of course, we can speak! I will give you a break because you’re my Canadian friend! Haha! Besides, you have my name. I kind of like you! :)

She: I forgot about that one! That is so weird too.

S&M: Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

Denise: That is too funny. There have been days where everything got on my nerves! PMS? Nope! :)

Bubba: I am not always this negative. Thanks for topping by too!

Joy: I am sure they were making sure you learned how to speak well. I live in an area where they want to let children speak the way they want to. It drives me crazy! Hence, my post. :)

  98. Great list! Most of those annoy me too. I especially hate bad grammar.
Thanks for visiting my blog. :-)

  99. I “like” so agree with everything on your list. I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it. I’m with you on all these.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    Have a good weekend.

    Toodles,
    Maryanne

  100. Great list. Although I’m guilty of some of these :) Thanks for stopping by.

  101. You tell \’em! I\’m always telling myself that people who complain about other people are really saying more about themselves. Great list. I hope you feel better after getting those things off your back.

  102. I completely agree with number 1, 5, 9, and 13. Definitely with 13.

  103. New to blogging, my wife makes me do a TT and read the people who linky to hers. :)

  104. I’m guilty of the F-bomb.. but I call it part of my extended vocabulary. :)

Thanks for visiting my TT - regularly. :)

  105. Twyla: Thanks for stopping by my site too.

Maryanne: That’s funny. I have been catching myself saying that after yesterday. Haha!

Mominprogress: I am guilty of a few of them too. :)

Amy the Black: I did feel better. Next week, I will be back to my “sweet” self. Haha!

Nikki: You sound like you’re a person with good morals. There should be more people like you.

    Michael: Cool, wife! :)

Trish: At least, you’re honest about it! :)

  106. Good list…and I hate it when people drive up next to me or speed by me when I am trying to change lanes and then get in my lane. an, I really hate that one.
