Thursday Thirteen #90 (An Update on my 2007 Goals)

Wednesday, December 26, 2007 1:28 PM

Last year, I listed thirteen things I would like to accomplish in 2007. I went back to read that list, decided to post it again, then let you know if I actually accomplished them this year. All I can say, is that I am so happy it’s going to be a new year. Next week, I will post some new things I would like to accomplish for 2008.

  1. Read my Bible more. Okay, I did not read it as much as I would have liked to, but did read more than I did in the past. Although, that is not saying much.
  2. Pray more. I did a little better on this one, but I needed it more than ever this year.
  3. Worry less, trust God more. I plead the fifth on this one. :(
  4. Read more. This I did accomplish. Yay! I still need to read more. I have a whole stack of books I can devour this year.
  5. Watch television less (Bwahahaha! Okay, I’ll try! :) ) I plead the fifth on this one too. Darn, those new television shows! :)
  6. Play more games with Brendan. This was accomplished, and he has a whole new slew of them he received for Christmas. We both love games.
  7. Practice my piano more often. Eh, this was an off and on thing. I played more, but not as much as I could have done if I had not been doing too much of #5.
  8. Learn something new. This is not exactly “something,” but something I learned about myself. I learned that I can take risks and do things that I never thought I could do before. I took adventures

  1. Well the fact that you were able to accomplish some things on your list is saying something. I think you can count something you learned about yourself as “something new”. Congrats on getting out and doing more with your son.

  2. What wonderful goals! Blessings…

  3. I think I really need to read more two in general, but with kids, getting quiet time is hard isn’t it.

  4. In my TT I look back at my 2007 New Year’s resoutions too! You did a lot better than I! :-)

  5. Maybe the writers’ strike will help you with #5 now? #12 is a wonderful resolution to make at the start of a new year or any time

  6. What a great idea for a TT! Congratulations on your accomplishments, and don’t beat yourself too much over your near-misses. (thanks for visiting my TT)

  7. These are great!

  8. I think that I definitely need to do 1-3, and with the writers stike #5 seems more possible. I need to look back at my list and see how I did….probably not too good! yikes! Anyhow, thanks for stopping by my TT! Have a blessed week!

  9. Great list, and all the best for 2008! I always try to read more and watch less tv. In 2007 I actually managed it :)

  10. Gosh, it looks to me like you did an amazing job this year. Good for you! You must be very proud of yourself! :)

    Happy TT

  11. Life is a work in progress, ya know? And each of these goals will pay off with each step closer you get.

Happy TT and happy new year!

  12. Those sound like awesome goals my friend:) I hope you had a Merry Christmas. Happy TT and thanks for stopping by!!

  13. I’m impressed. Betcha did better than you think. Anything new for this coming year. Happy New Year. So glad you got to meet a blogger. It is so much fun!

  14. I might just steal your list because those are all things I’d like to work on as well.

  15. I stopped watching most TV in 2003. Happy TT.

  16. I need to spend more time with the Good Book, too. Reading the daily lectionary online just isn’t the same. God bless.

  17. Happy TT!!! Your list is great!!!!

  18. Ooh, I found another pianist! I’m just edging over into the intermediate pieces. Polishing up Fur Elise.

  19. These are amazing goals and thanks for sharing this to all of us:) I need to read a good book too..as if I have a lot of spare time this days..lol

    Love your TT!
    Here’s mine for this week!
    Thursday 13
Enjoy the rest of the Holidays!

  20. I listed my resolutions, I’m hoping I do well on them. I’ve thought of a 14th one since I posted…drink more water, but I forgot it when I was typing. Oh well. LOL! Good luck this year with whatever resolutions you make. :)

  21. Great goals! I hope you accomplish all of them!! Have a Happy New Year!

  22. That is a super list, and I am feeling many of the same things!!

Pray, read Bible more, be more patient, practice my piano more, love more, and play with the kids more. I also want to change the “NO” word to more of a positive reinforcement.

Great list! Best wishes for a great start for 2008!
    Happy TT!
    Come see me, too! :)

  23. Nice goals for the new year. Good luck with them all. Smiling more might be the easiest once you get started.

  24. Great post. Have a great new year!

  25. I am in sync with you on #2, #3, #4, #5, #8, #9, #10, #12 (love this!). I especially like the last one, I will try to remember that.

    Here’s to a blessed 2008!

  26. All wonderful endeavors and you’re trying, which is wonderful! Happy TT and here’s to an even better 2008!

  27. These sounds like some very worthy goals. :) Good luck with them.

  28. Hello,
Its also my goal to read the bible & pray more..will work harder on it in 2008..

  29. Happy T-13! Revisiting last year’s resolutions and deciding to continue making these priorities indicates a thoughtful list. Committing to share results adds motivation to keep your focus. The teacher in me wonders how you’ll measure “more” … but since I’m happily retired, I won’t push the point :)
    Hugs and blessings,

  30. What a great list. I wish you success with each one. Have a great New Years!

  31. Accomplishing even half such a list is a well marked achievement. Goals for the coming in the year.?

  32. I love this list! Will have to start one for me for 2008! Happy TT!

  33. You and I have the same first four goals. We also had similar success :-) I am not giving up. I’ll just have to roll these over into my 2008 goals.

  34. Those goals are so thoughtful! I love it.

  35. Those were very challenging goals. It looks like you did a great job working on them.

  36. I look forward to seeing your goals of 08 list!

  37. This is a great T13 post, good goals. Happy T13 and 2008!!

  38. I’m bookmarking all the resolutions so I don’t have to make up my own list. There are some good ones here, especially the one about trusting God (who, let’s face it, doesn’t always come through in exactly you’re the manner you’re hoping)…

    Thanks for the visit!

  39. These are really nice goals. I could use more praying myself.

  40. I’ve looked back on my ’07 goals and found it very enlightening. I can’t wait to look back on the ’08 ones and see how far I got.

Congrats on what you accomplished and good luck on what you will try again for next year.

    ~X

  41. I like the greet everyone with a genuine smile. I think I can do that one :-)

  42. Oh man … I think my resolutions were a total disaster this year. Actually I think they all got blown out of the water like the first week or so. haha ;-)

  43. You’ve done well! I don’t think I even wrote down resolutions I may or may not have made last year. I’ll plead the fifth ;)

  44. Please forgive the lateness in replying. As always, thanks for checking out The Pink Flamingo. You have a good list – except for the piano thing, but then I am a piano lesson drop-out!
