Thursday Thirteen #86 (Thirteen Favorite Christmas Shows)
Wednesday, December 5, 2007 3:54 PM
I think I did something like this last year, but I am hoping you do not go back and search because I am too lazy to think of something new. Besides, I do not think the list will be exactly the same. Haha!
- Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey (1977) - This is like the “Christian” version of “Rudolf.” A donkey is born with long ears that he trips over, he is made fun of, but then becomes the donkey that carries Mary into Bethlehem. (Okay, I am a dork… I actually cried watching this one last night with my son. He thought I was crazy).
- Rudolf, the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964) - I used to be afraid of the Abominable Snowman. Now, I think he is so cute!
- A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) - What’s the true meaning of Christmas? I still cannot believe they allow the networks to show this every year. Do not get me wrong, I am so happy about it, but I am still surprised.
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966) - Christmas would not be Christmas without watching this old classic!
- Frosty, the Snowman (1969) - When I was a little girl, I cried when Frosty melted. Hey, I thought he was real!
- A Christmas Story (1983) - “You’ll shoot your eye out”! This one was a tradition growing up in my family. We watched it every year! Still do. It’s my all time favorite. Yes, more than all the other classics out there.
- It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) - My life truly is wonderful. I only have God to thank for that.
- Scrooged (1988) - Bill Murray is hilarious in this version of A Christmas Carol.
- The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) - Who does not love the Muppets?
- Miracle on 34th Street (1994) - This is a very touching remake of the classic.
- The Santa Clause (1994) - I did not care much for the sequels, but this was was quite cute.
- Elf (2003) - This is my new favorite Christmas movie. It’s so happy!
- The Little Drummer Boy (1968) - A sweet reminder, that no matter how poor or rich you are, you can still be used by God in a wonderful way.
I know there are many others that did not make this list. I love this time of year and all it’s shows. May you and your families enjoy them and each other this season too!
Read more TT’s here.

I like a lot of those, but It’s a Wonderful Life is still my favourite!
Thanks for visiting my animation TT.
Oh I’m afraid I’m not familiar with any of those … maybe when I have a kid …
Cheers!
Happy TT. Thanks for stopping by.
Scrooged is one of my favorites!

When I was thinking of Christmas TV specials for my poll this week, I was reminded of “Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey”. Do they still show this on TV or were you watching a video/DVD with your son last night?
By the way, thanks for commenting on my TT about Little Richard. In answer to your question, he is one of my musical heroes.
GREAT list, we just watched the Muppet Christmas Carol this weekend - still a classic!
2, 3, 4 & 8 are my absolute favorites!
Great Great list chelle!!!
I have never seen “It’s a Wonderful Life” - true confession!

Believe it or not, but I’ve actually met someone who didn’t like the Muppets. I put her in her place so much so that she hates me for life.
Oh, well. The Muppets are worth it.
I don’t know if I know Nestor. All the others are standards for us! No Christmas passes go without them!
Elf is just the best! I love it!
I LOVE the Christmas shows! I’m sorry I missed Shrek The Halls - but I own Rudolph and a bunch of others. It’s a major part of my holiday celebration seeing these. I have not seen #1 though (Nester) that’s the only one I’ve not. Will have to see if I can find it.
Happy TT-13
Smiles,

The Muppet’s Christmas Carol is so funny! It’s my favorite by far. Scrooge, the musical with Albert Finney is my other favorite version of A Christmas Carol.
And I love the Grinch. The Grinch rocks.
Love love love A Christmas Story. It was just on the other night. They just don’t make movies like that anymore! Great list!
Frosty is one of my all time faves…and of course the original Grinch.
There’s a few of those I’ve never seen (and probably never will have the chance to). I’m really looking forward to watching them with my kids this year!
I love love stories, so when I think of Rudolph, I think of his fair lady reindeer, Clarice. And George and Mary Bailey are a terrific love story, too! I guess the holidays brings out the romantic in me! Thanks for stopping by my TT.
I forgot all about Nestor! hahaha
There are some really classic shows in here. I know we used to get the holiday TV guide and mark out all the stuff we wanted to see. It was part of the tradition.
I have three TTs this week:

Every year they cut just a little bit more out of A Charlie Brown Christmas too. I can’t watch the Charlie Brown specials anymore because there’s so much cut out.
I also don’t watch the Grinch. That one upset me as a child because of how mean he was to the poor dog.
It’s A Wonderful Life and Scrooged however are two of my favorite Christmas movies.
Happy belated TT.

Yep, I think those are all my favorites, too!
