Thursday Thirteen #81 (Thirteen Children Television Theme Songs That Get Stuck In My Head)
Wednesday, October 24, 2007 3:00 PM
Brendan is seven now, so he does not watch most of these shows anymore. Once in a while, I will think of one of them, then cannot get the “stupid” song out of my head. I hope because of this list, they do not get stuck in your head too!
- “Dora, the Explorer” She was one of his favorites, plus, I liked the fact that it was interactive, rather than him just “watching” television.
- “Bob, the Builder” His second birthday party had a “Bob the Builder” theme. He loved him!
- “Blue’s Clues” Mommy liked “Joe!” Haha, kidding!
- “Veggie Tales” This is one that I loved watching too, especially, “Larry, the Cucumber!”
- “The Backyardigans” He was a little older when this came out, but once in a while, when he does not think I am watching him, he’ll turn it on.
- “The Wiggles” This was his “exercise” video. Even mom could get a workout doing the motions to some of their songs!
- “Lazytown” Yeah, I sat on my behind watching this one too! Hahaha!
- “Bear in the Big Blue House” Now, he was one of my favorites. I took him to see the live show, and cried watching Brendan, watching Bear. He was so cute. I do not think this one is on anymore.
- “Stanley” We both loved learning about the different animals with Stanley. Brendan even wants to be a “pet doctor” (as he calls it) someday.
- “Jo Jo’s Circus” She is the only clown that does not scare me.
- “Dragon Tales” We did not watch this much either, but their theme song is addicting.
- “Barney” I swore I would never let my child watch this show because Barney drove me nuts. But, the first time Brendan sang the “I love you” song to me, it melted my heart. I put up with “Barney” for another two years.
- “Sponge Bob Square Pants” Out of all the shows, this is the only one he watches today! MY BABY IS GROWING UP! WAAAHH! He wanted to watch the “Simpsons” last night, but I would not let him. I am not ready for him to be that grown-up!

Oh yeah, this could be my list! You totally nailed it! Great list!
What about sesame street?
Sunny day
chasing the clouds away!
I don’t know any of those, and if they tend to be earworms, I’m glad I don’t!
I can thankfully say that although I have heard of most of these shows, I do not know their theme songs. The only one I do know is Barney. I can’t imagine the other 12 being worse than that one.
No problem putting any of those songs in my head cuz I don’t know any of them
Still waiting for grandchildren…
Sponge Bob…over and over and over…..
Thankfully most of those shows I’ve managed to avoid thanks to the lack of cable. Dragon Tales though, is one I have to suffer through daily. Happy TT and thanks for stopping by.
wfmom: Thanks! It’s nice to know that I am not alone in all this!
Country Dawn: You know, I grew up watching that, but Brendan never cared for it. It’s all that dumb cable, I guess!
Nicholas: Want me to sing them for you? Haha!
Malcolm: Oh, most of them are NOT worse than Barney. He’s the ultimate annoyance.
Ellen: When you get grandchildren, there will probably be a mess of new ones for you to hear!
Nap Warden: Yeah, that one REALLY gets stuck in your head!
Pusseboots: That alone is enough to drive you bonkers!
One of the advantages of having no children – no pithy tunes!

We’re outgrowing these shows, too. A lot of them, I never let the kids watch ’cause I couldn’t stand them! The rest… I’m not so sad to leave behind.
Happy TT! Thanks for dropping by!
Um, thanks, Chelle..looks like I will have to return to therapy now! LOL! Great list, good memories!
lol see the things I’m missing out on not having kids! Thanks for visiting

SJ: Oh, I would take the corny songs any day if it meant that I could still have the memories with Brendan!
Susan: Haha, sometimes I miss those silly shows because it means Brendan is growing up!
Laura: Opps, sorry!
Janet: Kids are worth it!
Buck Naked Politics: That’s the worst one!
My kids never got into the wiggles, but everything else I know!
Happy TT!
I’m so glad my son’s not into shows yet., just the Wiggles. They’re bad enough. I can’t even imagine…
I LOVE the Bear in the Big Blue House closing song – where he duets with the moon… And yes, it’s still on (at least in Canada.)
Have you heard WonderPets? There’s a catchy tune! Which I now have in my head and probably will all night. Thanks!
Re: Blue’s Clues: I preferred Joe to what’s-his-name (was it Steve?), too! Thanks for visiting my TT.
Oh..what a great list! I have to say, we have al of them!!! I have a 5 yrs old here…and Spongebob? over and over and over and over..again! hehe
Ooooh – that Barney song – that certainly never leaves your head. Good list – see ya.
Sadly (or unsadly) I can sing almost all of the songs on you list. The ones we watch mostly are Veggie Tales and Spongebob was popular when I was in highschool.
Well, the only one i knew was #13..lol..My kids are too big but my sisters kids love sponge bob:) Happy TT my friend.
Yeah, I said the same thing about Barney. But something about that purple dino just draws the kids in . . . some form of mind control, no doubt (smile). It’s been canceled for years now, but I used to love the music from “Gullah, Gullah Island.”
Jenn: The Wiggles were only a short time. I rather listen to their songs than to watch them.
GHD: Just you wait!
Wylie: Oh, really? He was so cute! I loved the ending song too!
The Gal Herself: Yeah, Joe is a cutie!
Yen: Yep, that’s about the right age! Have fun!
Kellan: Nope, that one does not leave your head! But, my son just kissed me, so it’s worth it!
Morgan: Veggie Tales and Spongebob are the best for us parents!
Lori: Your boys are big. They probably liked Sesame Street better!
Lori: Ah, I remember “Gullah, Gullah Island” too. Brendan also liked that one!
They get stuck in my head too. My grandchildren are too crazy over them. #s1, 2, 3, 5,7, 12 and 13 are the usual shows I see everyday with my grandchildren.
My T13 is up to.`
That’s cool!!!!
I’m guilty of 5 and 11:(
I can’t get the stupid WonderPets song out of my head. Probably the terrible singing. My T13 # 53 is up.
It is the 13 Tidbits of Wisdom edition!
Oh yeah Dragon tails
Friday’s Child: It’s nice that you will watch those shows with your grandchildren. You must be a good grandma!
No Nonsense Girl: Thanks!
Lori: Those are cute ones!
Dane Bramage: Yeah, I make him turn that one off because it’s annoying to me.
Marcia:
I think Sesame Street is one that sticks in my head… though I don’t know all the words. LOL!
Ooo..wat a great list…
I can “hear” some of them in my head now..
Hahaa

I have the same problem with #’s 1, 3, 7 and 13… especially Spongebob lol
Happy TT!
Oh yea Spongebob is a song that once its in your head its hard to get rid of lol
It’s scary, but I think I know all the words to every one of those songs! Hey, and thanks for reminding me of a bunch of songs that get stuck in my head too!
Is it sad that I could immediately sing every one of those theme songs?
Great TT!
My son watches PBS all day long and the theme song to big big world gets stuck in my head all of the time.
I love Barney just because of that song too ! Mine is 14yr now and I want the my twins to sing it too.
My twins have only watched Barney once but they love that song and it’s so sweet to hear them warble it. I also love the Wiggles and have been known to get my workout watching Live Hot Potatoes.
Happy TT!
Haha, I could have totally written that post!! Great list.
I just found out that an adult I know has her phone ringtone set to the Wonderpets theme.
Methinks someone needs a life. They’re catchy songs and all, but oy vey, woman!
Great list, Chelle!
I recognize the titles from my godchildren, but I’ve been spared since I don’t have kids of my own yet. I wonder what I’ll be stuck with. There seems to be more and more shows every year.
But that fact that I recognize the titles alone lets me know you nailed all the shows that get in your head and won’t go away.
Happy TT

My kids missed some of those as they are older than your son. The do like Sponge Bob, and Veggie Tales was big in our house even for the adults. Happy TT.
A lot of these shows are still playing in my house. I loved Bear in the Big Blue House too-We saw him on stage and got to meet him backstage-Very Fun. This mommy liked Joe too (hahaha) another one that would always stick in my head was Teen Titans.
Barney is the biggest winner in our house my first born adored him and the baby requests him often. Nice List
Oh man, Jo Jo’s Circus, Lazytown and the Backyardigans… I never thought I’d be happy to get my youngest into Pokemon, but at least the theme song doesn’t get stuck in my head.
First I must say you have an absolutely adorable blog. My son is 22 and my daughter is 13 but I remember some of these. Barney was a favorite at my house. Back then Power Rangers was a hit. My daughter loved Blues Clues. So did I.
Yuriko: Now, that one was one of my favorites, but there was no “Elmo” in my time.
Wolfie: Haha, sorry about that!
Kristina Q: SpongeBob is the only one he watches everyday now, so that song is never out of my head!
Rae: “SpngeBog Square Pants!” Haha!
Cecily: That just means you’re a good mom!
Kate: Yeah, sometimes we as mom’s need a life, huh?
Jennifer: I do not think I know that one. PBS is a good learning channel for kids. My son likes “Signing Time.:
Trish: Isn’t it sweet when you get those kisses?
Lori: I liked the “Do the Monkey” song. That one was my son’s favorite.
Head Gaggler: Great minds think alike!
Ah man, I’m gonna have Sponge Bob on my head all day….
Fun list! Happy TT!

Kim: I am ashamed to admit my ringtone is from High School Musical 2, “I Don’t Dance.” I may need a life too! Haha!
Xakara: Yeah, they change the shows all the time. When you have children, this list of shows may be extinct!
Dawn: Veggie Tales was cute and very entertaining for us adults. It makes me a little sad that he is no into them anymore, since I like them so much!
Maribeth: Brendan would have loved to meet him!
Ann: Brendan never cared for that show. I do not think I could have put up with another one!
Titania: Power Rangers was a hit when my brother was young, but they are still popular. The “shark” ranger was the coolest one in our house!
Open Grove Claudia: Opps, sorry!
luckily, i never here those since i don’t have any children yet! happy tt

I’ve had the Phenomenon song, as sung by Fozzie Bear from the Muppets, stuck in my head for days. You know the one: “do doo do-do-do phenomenon do do do do”. In fact I think I’m going to see if there’s a You Tube clip of it…
Oh my goodness…I am sooooo out of touch with children’s shows! I need to brush up on these, because it won’t be long until my little grandson will be watching them.
Oh how I hate the Barney song and the show that goes along with it. That sang just makes my teeth hurt even.
ARGH!! Those songs that just live in your head.
Cindi
Love Veggie Tales….hate Sponge Bob. What a fun list!
Fortunately I’ve avoided most of those. The last show that I had friends with kids that watched regularly was Telly Tubbies. I shouldn’t have thought about it – now I’ve got the theme in my head. Nooooooooooooo!!!!
Interesting TT
I’ve actually heard of most of those! LOL
She: Someday, you might! Then, you’ll know what I mean!
Amy: I LOVED Fozzie Bear! He was so cute!
Cindy: There will probably be a whole slew of new ones for him to watch.
Cindi: Yeah, it’s annoying, especially the kids who have no talent at all!
Mama: Veggie Tales is so sweet!
Mark: No, no, no! Now, that is the ultimate worst!
Jay: You ARE a softie! I am sure you watch them all everyday. Don’t lie! I know you do!
What about the Sesame Street Theme song? Great, now Dragon Tales is stuck in MY head!!!
~Harris.
yeah, I’d listen to Barney in that situation, too.
