About Me
Name: Chelle Y.

I am a mother of one beautiful six year old boy, and I am a Die-hard Oakland A's fan. I was a history and algebra teacher for nine years before my son came into my life, then became a stay-at-home mom. That has been one of my greatest joys.

I love to play the piano and now I teach other children how to play piano too.

Thursday Thirteen #79 (Thirteen Purchases I Have Made Recently)

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 2:00 PM

Well, since I am finished with my Family TT Edition, I am having a hard time thinking of topics again. So, here is a really lame one (but, it’s easy to read).

  1. Tithe/Offering to my church. Well, this really is not a “purchase.” but it is a check I wrote recently.
  2. Gas I am not going to complain of gas prices, because I am thankful for my car.
  3. Grocery Shopping We all have to eat, don’t we?
  4. Allegro Music I had to purchase piano books for some of my students.
  5. Marie Callender’s My son and I had a “date” Friday night.
  6. Target There were two birthday this past weekend!
  7. My friend’s son’s school. He was having a fund raiser.
  8. My nephew Brent’s school. He was having a fund raiser too.
  9. Rite-Aid Pharmacy Brendan was stung by a bee and I had to get Benadryl.
  10. Lance Armstrong Foundation A friend was “running” for her daddy who just died from cancer.
  11. Blockbuster On-line Hey, you just have to rent those movies!
  12. Brendan’s School He had a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch.
  13. Nob Hill I had to get snacks for a party.

Read more TT’s here.

  1. How did the date go?

  2. Happy TT to you. :) It is easy to read…

  3. Sounds very busy… hopefully, they weren’t really big purchases :)

  4. Not lame at all! As a fan of Lance Armstrong (not only the cycling part!) I’m happy you helped your friend. I’m sorry for her loss..
Thanks for visiting my Yeats TT!

  5. Susie J: The date went well. We try to have one every week.

    Ellen: Thanks!

Yuriko: Only a few were “big,” but manageable.

Tink: You’re welcome. I am a fan of Lance too.

  6. We’ve had a bunch of birthday parties to go as well this month. Target has been our place to get gifts too. Happy TT and thanks for stopping by.

  7. Isn’t it amazing how these expenses accumulate so fast? Fun TT!

  8. We have 2 and 3 in common. But then, who doesn’t?

  9. Oh no - you just reminded me I forgot to buy my son his new guitar book and he needs it tomorrow!!!

  10. Pussnboots: Target is my vice! :)

SandyCarlson: It does add up! I was shocked at my account this morning!

Nicholas: Yep. Who doesn’t? Right? :)

Mom Not Mum: You better do it! You know, those music teachers have tempers! :)

  11. #9. Ouch! Hope Brendan is OK.

  12. It’s amazing where money goes, isn’t it??? :) What did you mean on my blog?

  13. Busy checkbook! (who doesn’t love Target??)

Ours was every bit as bad, I think. I’m not sure; the Tour Manager’s got it again.

  14. what a great idea for a list…..I have a party this weekend as well!

  15. The Gal Herself: He is. He just screamed for a little while! :)

    Gracey: It’s an internet hug!

Susan Helene Gottfried: Yes, busy! Thankfully, God has provided the money to make those purchases.

    Tommiea: Have a good time!

  16. Oh man! Maya got stung by a bee (a DEAD bee, mind you) while we were on our trip. Good thing I was carrying benadryl for my son’s allergies, we were able to give it to her right away.

THanks for stopping by my blog!

  17. Hey, shopping is a pick me up!

  18. Happy TT!

You are better than me, my last 13 purchases were done in the last 2 days. I can’t help spending money. LOL.

  19. I hate going grocery shopping…although I know I should be thankful I have money for food…its just an awful job. It sounds like you need to spend a little on yourself. When was the last time you treated yourself to something special?? The date on Friday night with a handsome young man sounds nice but do something for YOU….Happy TT my friend.

  20. Jen: I was stung by a dead bee when I was a little girl by my aunt’s pool! It hurt so badly! I could not even have the satisfaction that the bee was going to die because it stung me either! :)

wfmom: What woman does not like shopping?

Morgan: I think most of us have that problem.

Lori: I do my grocery shopping on-line, which helps me out so much! Oh, I am planning on getting a pedicure this weekend. Does that count? :)

  21. All important things - Happy TT13! :-)

  22. Is that all? I’m impressed. I’m a shopaholic & probably made 13 today.

  23. You’re so brave (smile). If I made a list like this, I’d get depressed and start craving chocolate. In my case, ignorance is bliss . . . or at least less fattening.

  24. Happy TT Chelle!!! I need to write down my tithing check. :)

    I love shopping!!!! :)

My TT is up, 13 things in the last week. :)

  25. Wow. Lot’s of fundraisers!

  26. Interesting list…I wonder if I can recall what I spent money on this past week…

  27. We blew $400 on car repairs this week. *sobs* Happy TT!

  28. Isn’t it amazing how much money you spend? It kils me how it adds up so fast.

  29. I can’t believe I’ve bought gas twice this week. *sighs*

  30. The “date” sounds cute! I haven’t been to that restaurant in years :(

  31. I read that you purchased Nob Hill! lol!

    Great list! Happy TT.

  32. Frigga: Most of them were important. There were a few splurges too!

AFF: Oh, I didn’t mention they were all on the same day? ;)

Lori: I think I did buy some chocolate in that mix!

No Nonsense Girl: I love shopping too! I used to hate it, but now it’s fun.

Leeann: Yeah, and my son has not started his yet. It’s going to be payback to my friends! :)

Janet: The only way I remembered them was because I was balancing my checkbook and got the idea from that.

  33. Joely: Now, that’s sad! :(

Serina: It sure does add up! I about gasped when I saw my balance!

Tempest Knight: I have purposely not driven “far” just so I do not have to buy more gas this week!

Hestial: That was the first time I went there in months, and I live so close to it. I usually get to go to Denny’s because that is Brendan’s favorite place. He’s seven! :)

Open Grove Claudia: Haha, I wish! :)

  34. Sounds like a very nice set of purchases for your family.

  35. Interesting idea for a TT! Enjoyed reading it :)

  36. Ah, a spot of retail therapy! Always a great topic, Chelle ;-)
Thanks for visiting my TT, btw.

  37. Great list to think about … If we all wrote down what we spent and then justified it - we might not overspend so much on unnecessary things .The Date does sound special !

  38. great post!

  39. Great list. Sorry for your friend, #10. :(

  40. I’m so thankful to have a car to have to buy gas for, too, but I sure do seem to be visiting the gas pump more than I wish!

  41. Happy TT! Thanks for stopping by :)

  42. If you are going to eat a frozen food, Marie Callendar is the good choice.

  43. Dazozel: If I think about it that way, then it won’t seem as bad. ;)

    Coco: Thanks!

Amy: Therapy! Now, I like that way of thinking too! :)

Babyamore: The date was really special. It’s fun to talk to him with no distractions.

    Jennifer: Thank you.

  44. Head Gaggler: Thanks for the kind thoughts.

Angela: I know what you mean.

Emyrose: You’re welcome. Thanks for stopping by here too.

Sparky Duck: I have a few of their pot pies in my freezer. :)

  45. Interesting list idea! Happy Thursday Thirteen, and thank you so much for stopping by!

  46. I had to shell out for a pumpkin patch trip this morning also. And will again on Monday, and next Thursday. It will be pumpkin palooza!
The last major $$ purchase I made was at Sephora yesterday. Bad, bad, money-sucking place!

  47. I don’t think I want to admit all I’ve been spending on! LOL I spent $50.50 at a THRIFT STORE yesterday! But I did get a lot of great stuff.
I have 2 TT’s up, one on each blog.
    http://qtpies7-goodstuff.blogspot.com and http://qtpies7.blogspot.com

  48. What a great idea for a list! I’d have to think about it for a while and I think some of my purchases might be embarrassing! :)

  49. Oh I love Target! But the closest one to me is 50 miles away, so I don’t get there nearly often enough.

Happy TT and thanks for visiting my list!

  50. Oh, I had to hit Target too — I never leave there without spending at least $100. Brother!!!
    Happy TT

  51. Sue: Thanks and you’re welcome!

Samatha: Those pumpkins patches get you, don’t they? At least, I only have one child.

    qtpie7: I won’t admit it all! :)

Cecily” Thanks. Now, I need another idea for next week!

L-Squared: Oh, they just built a huge Target in my town. Great store, but bad for me! :)

Lara: Me too! I have to go back today and get dog food! :)

  52. Everytime I order from a fundraiser something happens and I never get my stuff!!! Groceries and gas are the 2 purchases I always dread but can’t do without!

  53. Does paying a bill count as a prchase? Then That’s all I ever buy these days. My Thursday Thirteen #51 The old Hollywood Squares Q&A Edition is up. Stop by if you get a chance.

  54. oh yes those fundraisers, man they get more expensives as the years go by don’t they? I’m beginning to like Target over Walmart. Happy TT!

  55. I wish we had Marie Callenders here! I’ve heard great things about them.

  56. Danielle: That would be rough not to get something for which you already paid money.

Dane: I believe it is. Anything that takes away money is a purchase to me.

homemom3: Yep! I remember when kids sold candy bars for only $1.00.

Barbara: The only problem with that restaurant in our area is that it is so slow! Great food, though.

  57. what a interesting list!! Happy Thursday!!!

  58. Sounds like you’ve been very busy with all those fund raisers, parties and birthdays.

  59. Is it possibly there is left over pie? And you could send me a piece? Happy TT

  60. #5 is so adorable! Happy TT and wow, you have a lot of comments!

  61. 59 comments! Wow. Your TT is obviously not nearly as lame as you though! I thought mine was lame too, but people seemed to enjoy it. You just never know…

I’m thinking when my kid starts school I’ll need a part time job just to pay for the fundraiser things!

    Enjoyed your post!

  62. You’re a very busy lady! LOL

  63. Amanda: Thank you! Happy TT to you too!

Mark: Yes, but it has not been too bad! :)

Vixen: Actually, I did not order pie that night. But, my son did get a hot fudge sundae, which I ate. :)

Michypoo: I should do more like this each week, huh? :)

    Mama Pajama: :)

  64. And at the end of the week before you made the list you were probably like “Where did all my money go?” lol I hate how fast it flies out of your wallet. Thanks for checking out my list. Happy 13!

  65. Fun TT…shares a piece of you. Thanks for sharing~

  66. Whew, you’ve got some serious fundraisers going on there!

  67. Joanne: That was exactly my thoughts!

    Sarah: Thanks for stopping by!

Amy: I just had a girl ask me to support her today too! Did I? Yep! :)

  68. Nob Hill. Oooh la la.

  69. Enjoyed your list. I need to have a date with my kids too! Good idea!

  70. Marie Claender’s is yummy!

  71. This is a busy fundraising time. I’ve already bought an apple strudel and some popcorn. And Target has a lot of my money :)
