Thursday Thirteen #62 (Thirteen Favorite Inspirational Movies)
Wednesday, May 30, 2007 12:39 PM
I am doing my TT a day early this week because I am going on my son’s final field trip of the year tomorrow! I recently watched a great movie which gave me the idea for this week’s list. I do not have any time to “explain” the movies, but you can click on the link if you want to know more about them!
- Freedom Writers
- Akeelah and the Bee
- Remember the Titans
- Coach Carter
- Miracle
- Seabiscuit
- We Were Soldiers
- Music of the Heart
- Facing the Giants
- Rudy
- Glory Road
- Cinderella Man
- Mr. Holland’s Opus
Read more TT’s here.

You’re not gonna believe this, but I haven’t seen ANY of those movies. LOL
Seriously. Some day I’ll watch some of them though. Probably. haha
/what, no Hoosiers? I loved that movie.

We were soldiers is one of my all time favorites. I’ve always meant to see Mr. Holland’s opus, but I always seem to either miss it on cable or forget to rent it at the video store.

Neither have I. Haven’t seen any of these lists but thanks for sharing it anyway. At least I have something to refer to when these lists of yours would be showing over here.
My T13 is up too.
I’ve only seen three of them. It looks like I need to get crackin, especially after a friend suggested several of them to me this weekend.
I haven’t seen these either. Going to have to check some of these out. Honestly, I’m way behind in movies, so thanks for providing me with a list of where to start.
Happy TT and enjoy the field trip!
I’ve seen the majority of these films and they are all inspirational! Great list.

I’ve seen a few of these and yup, good movies!
But if you get the chance, read the book, Sea Biscuit. SOOO much better than the movie.
I seen Akkelia and the bee, but not the others. I’ll have to check them off on my Netflix. Happy Thursday.

Have you read Seabiscuit? Fascinating book. Great list!
You’re gonna hate me . . . Seabiscuit and Cinderella Man put me to sleep. I hardly remember Mr. Holland’s Opus except that I thought it was horribly contrived. Music of the Heart was ok, but no way could I believe that even the great Meryl Streep was playing that violin. Haven’t seen any of the rest.
Sorry!
Very inspirational movies. I’ve seen most of these, and Mr. Holland’s Opus is one of my favorites.
I think I’ve cried at most of these.
Have only watched no. 13, Mr. Holland’s Opus
Happy TT!
I haven’t seen any of the films on your TT.
#12 was very good.
I have not seen the others.
Happy TT’ing!
I can see a thread between these movies and I’ve seen most of them. I would say that they also inspired me. This was a very good idea for a topic, like it! I am going to use it sometime. I love stories where characters/real people are overcoming ridiculous odds. I really liked Cinderella Man…and went into it doubting, but found I was really moved. Mr Hollands Opus was incredible…and still our schools have been having cut back after cut back.
Rudy is a great movie, as was Mr Hollands Opus.
I like We Were Soldiers, and I’ve seen Mr. Holland’s Opus. The rest, I haven’t — I’ll have to check them out!
My tt is up - please come visit me at http://www.anastaciaknits.blogspot.com
Great choices, Chelle! I’ve seen several of them.
My TT’s up too.
My Mom gave me “Akeelah and the Bee” to watch, but Hoop keeps turning his nose up at it. He thinks it’s a kiddie movie. *Sigh* Glad it got a good review with you though. Maybe I’ll get to see it one of these days.
I’ve seen a few of these, and I love inspirational movies too. I watched Rudy repeatedly when I went back to college. We were in a real bind, and it helped to keep me working hard.
I liked Seabiscuit too.
I absolutely loved Freedom Writers. I haven’t seen a movie like that in some time. We rented it but I’m definitely going to buy it. I’ve seen everything on your list but #2, 6, and 8.

Ohhhhhh, I LOVED Mr. Holland’s Opus. What’s funny is I actually forgot about it until you mentioned it in your list. That’s what I love about TT. Every post I read seems to trigger some sort of memory!
Those are all great movies!!!
Happy TT
I’ve seen a few of those. Great movies! Gotta love movies with a message, and making you cry is a bonus!
