I am a mother of an eleven year old boy, named Brendan. I am a Die-hard Oakland A's San Jose Sharks' fan. I teach fourth grade and private piano lessons.

I have a wonderful God, family, and church. I am so blessed! I am learning on a constant basis that, "God is good all the time, no matter what!".

Thursday Thirteen #60 (Thirteen Things About My Son)

Since last Sunday we celebrated Mother’s Day, I thought I would list thirteen things about my “precious gift from God.” Those who know me best, already know many on this list. I love being a mom!

  1. He’s adopted. We were told about the possibility of adopting him on March 3rd, and he was put into my arms on the day he was born, April 11th.
  2. He has blond hair and blue eyes. His hair is light brown during the winter, but goes blond again in the summer. I think it will be brown when he gets older. His birth father has brown hair.
  3. He has the most beautiful smile. Yes, I am a little bias, but he does not get it from my genes, so I feel I can brag a little more. :)
  4. He has a lazy eye. I find it so cute sometimes.
  5. He walks on his toes. He has done this from the time he learned to walk. Hey, at least he has strong calves. I will NOT sign him up for ballet! Haha!
  6. He loves art. He would rather go to a craft store, then a toy store. He has a closet full of crayons, markers, paints, and art paper.
  7. He likes soccer better than baseball. I signed him up for baseball the first time in his life. He informed me that he would rather play soccer. I think that takes more endurance, since you’re running the whole time.
  8. He loves to read. When he was little, he would always ask his dad and me if we could go to Border’s Bookstore to buy a new book. He has so many now. It is fun to hear him read by himself, but I do miss reading to him.
  9. He wants to be a “pet doctor” when he grows up. He loves animals.
  10. He has a “blankie.” It is not the “blankie” he loves the most, but the tag on the blanket. He rubs it when he is scared, nervous, or just tired. I have had to buy so many new blankets because my mom would cut the tags off, not realizing that is what he wanted the most.
  11. He knows he was adopted. He even prays for his birth mom all the time.
  12. He is a “gift from God.” When he was little, I would say, “Brendan, you’re a gift.” He would reply, “from God.” I guess he heard that phrase so much from me that in just stuck in his head.
  13. I love being his mom! Knowing that I could never have a child of my own, it’s still hard to believe that God gave him to me. I am forever grateful!

  4. I hope to adopt someday; it’s always been a dream of mine! I feel there are so many children out there that need loving homes and I hope to provide that someday for at least one.

  11. I never noticed the lazy eye! That makes his peepers even that more beautiful (if thats possible)! Last night, we played tag with the boys, took them to Michael’s (the craft store), then the party store, then a fun restaurant….wuddya know, when Uncle Mike asked him what his favorite part of the day was, he said THE CRAFT STORE! Go figure! That boy’s going to be a bigger and better Martha Stewart, I swear! Gotta love him. You were blessed with EACH OTHER.

  19. What a great list Chelle! My favorite one of yours yet. I used to have a blankie too. I loved rubbing the silky edges. My Mom had to buy a new one every other month because I would rub the edges clean off. :)
