Thursday Thirteen #53 (Thirteen “Popular” Shows on Television That I Do Not Watch)

Wednesday, March 28, 2007 5:00 PM

I always find it amazing how we all have different tastes when it comes to television shows. When something “new” comes out, I try to watch it at least once. Here is a list of 13 shows that I did not care for or have never seen. I am sure that some of your favorites are on here. I still like you anyway! :)

  1. Grey’s Anatomy
  2. What About Brian?
  3. Prison Break*
  4. Jericho*
  5. Friday Night Lights*
  6. Nip/Tuck
  7. Ugly Betty
  8. Medium*
  9. Heroes
  10. The Amazing Race
  11. Dancing with the Stars*
  12. Brothers and Sisters*
  13. Studio 60*

*Never seen. (Now, I realize that some of these are probably good shows and when I did see them, I liked it. But…I just do not have time to watch any more T.V. and I do not want to get into another series right now. Maybe during the summer months when all my favorites are in rerun mode.)

Read more TT’s here.

  1. Don’t feel bad. I don’t watch any of those either…

    I’m all about L&O reruns. I just can’t get enough :)

  2. I only watch The Amazing Race. And that’s the only “reality” show I ever watch. Tried to watch Heroes and Studio 60, but didn’t like either. I do watch Lost, 24, and Battlestar Galactica.

  3. I don’t watch any of those either. But I do watch American Idol! :)

  4. So true about not wanting to get into another show! I really enjoyed Studio 60, but it looks like that is going to be cancelled. You can cross that one off your list for the summer. Good idea for a list this week!

  5. I watch Heroes and Grey’s Anatomy occasionnaly but their time slot overlaps CSI so I usually stick to CSI instead :P
And I only watch The Amazing Race when I’m bored or when I’m waiting for CSI. Hahah.

  6. I now watch two shows only: The Amazing Race and Criminal Minds (which I’m currently plopped in front of). Oh, and Dog the Bounty Hunter, but that’s in a class by itself.

    Happy TT!

  7. oh man…Heroes…LOVE that show!

  8. I don’t watch any of those shows either. The only one of those, I would like to watch is Dancing with the Stars but I keep missing it becauseit conflicts with other shows.

  9. I haven’t seen any of the shows but I enjoyed your list.
    Terrific Thursday Thirteen!
    My TT is posted.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Happy TT’ing!

  10. Hmmmm…I watch none of those. I wonder what that means.:)

  11. Don’t worry. You’re not missing a thing!

  12. Grey’s Anatomy is my favorite!! But that is the only one I watch from your list! Also House and Lost.

  13. Where’s LOST? :)
I’ve had to limit my shows, too, though I’m sorry I missed Prison Break from the beginning…
Oh well, there is just NO time to do it all.

  14. I don’t watch any of those either. I used to only watch Survivor and that’s gradually grown to about 4 shows that I watch every week. Sadly, I was able to answer an American Idol quiz question a while ago. How sad is THAT! lol

  15. I almost never watch TV anymore and, although I’ve heard about them, I’ve never seen any of those shows.

  16. I’m afraid a few of my favs are on there. :) Brothers & Sisters is a must watch for me. But you’ve compiled an eclectic list — I can see where there would be many shows some people might not like, simply for the subject matter. Interesting! Happy TT!

  17. I have never watched any of these shows myself.

    Check out my TT

  18. I don’t watch any of those either. I did watch the first season of Amazing Race way back when, but never since. I’m a busy mom, no time for tv anymore. I get to catch the reruns too, and by then my head is on a pillow and i’m probably drooling.

  19. I have to say I agree with you … on all but one. Ugly Betty has to be one of my new favorite shows and I hardly ever watch tv.

  20. I like Grey’s Anatomy, though I need to catch up a few eps. I’m starting to get into Heroes. I really like Medium and never miss it. I like Jericho and Nip/Tuck, though I’ve been rather casual about keeping up to date with them. I missed the boat on Prison Break.
You can’t watch everything (though somehow my brother seems to). Happy TT.

  21. Hi! Well, I watch Ugly Betty and never missed an episode yet. I’ve only watched Heroes once and really like it but it’s not shown on local TV networks.

It’s not that good to watch too much TV, anyway. =)

By the way, you have a beautiful blog!

  22. Sounds like me! I don’t watch much TV and alot of those *popular* shows don’t do a thing for me. I do, however, love Dancing with the Stars and Amazing Race.

  23. I don’t watch any of those either, so you’re not alone! I tried watching Grey’s, but just couldn’t handle the soap opera-type drama. I can’t watch Nip/Tuck because I have a dreadfully weak stomach (I know, I know it’s fake).

    Happy TT

  24. I watch Grey’s religiously. Occasionally flip to Dancing with the stars, but only for giggles.
    Great TT.

  25. Oh there are a few on there(What About Brian, Nip/Tuck, Brothers and Sisters) that I am a fan of..but for the most part I dont watch any of those either.

    Great TT!

  26. I watch Heroes, but think it is over-rated. Do enjoy Medium though, more for the family than the story lines.

    Happy T13

  27. I haven’t watched any of those shows that are listed, though I would be interested in seeing Ugly Betty at least once.

I just don’t have time to watch tv, and when ever I do get time I normally pop in a DVD or VHS tape.

  28. Great list !! Mines up to.

  29. I don’t watch any of these either. I like to watch the science channel, the history channel, and things like that.

  30. I like Heros, Jerhico, and Studio 60..

  31. I watch three of them – Grey’s Anatomy, The Amazing Race, and Dancing With the Stars. I enjoyed reading your list.

  32. I haven’t seen any of these show either. Usually I steer away from “popular” shows to rediscover them in reruns.

    Happy TT.

  33. Prison Break is my favorite show, and I watch Nip/Tuck. And I guess I’ve also seen Grey’s Anatomy via DVD. But I’ve never watched any of the others.
    Happy TT!

  34. The only one of those I watch is Studio 60! I played too :-)

  35. Most of these I haven’t seen either. I do kind of like Medium, though. However, I don’t follow it at all. The only shows I follow are LOST, and Naruto (the Japanese version.)

Grats on being a featured T13!

  36. Happy TT-ing! Well, let’s see – I love Gray’s, & we watch Studio & Jericho – though I think hubby likes Studio more than I do. I know what you mean about sometimes it’s just the timing of the shows — if you are already watching too much tv, sometimes one more show is just too much.

My list is up, btw! A little later than I usually am, but I didnt’ even have time past weeks!

  37. Hoop and my show of choice is LOST. I’m sure there would be more if we had time. We have all these channels (in high def no less) and we’re too busy to watch any of them. Story of my life.

  38. Yep, none of those are on my watch list. The trailers for Grey’s were enough to stop me watching any further, LOL

    Kim

  39. ahhh so its your fault Friday Night Lights, Jericho and Studio 60 may get cancelled

  40. You and me both–I don’t watch any of those either. I have watched a couple of episodes of Medium, but then I like spooky stuff. But I don’t like it well enough to actually keep up–I don’t even know when it’s on.

I think you show discriminating taste :)

  41. Wow! My favourite show right now is Prison Break- I make sure I am at the gym before it starts and watch it while I sweat. I watch Battlestar Gallactica and Heroes with my hubby, they were acquired tastes for me. Happy TT

  42. I totally agree with you!! I haven’t watched ANY of those shows. I think I saw 5 minutes of Nip/Tuck while channel surfing and was surprised by how bizarre it was.

  43. Nip/Tuck. Love it. Grey’s. Love it.
    Jerricrap. Lame.

    :)

  44. I only got hooked on Jericho because I happened to catch the entire first half of the series when it was on OnDemand. It’s serial television, so if people try jumping in to one of these later eps without having seen the first ones, they can get lost and confused fairly easily. That said, it still isn’t everybody’s cuppa. I keep watching to see how it rings true with the various post-apocalyptic/disaster-recovery stories I’ve read. So far, they haven’t deviated overly much for the circumstances of the town.

I watched Heroes semiregularly at one point, but have kind of fallen away from it. I was vaguely interested in it, but I’ve found that I’m now fairly spoiled. I don’t want to have to wait weeks to see new episodes. I just want to see enough of the season to know that I want to buy it on DVD, then buy it on DVD and watch it at my pace with no commercials.

  45. I’ve seen one episode of Medium but that’s it for the list. We watch the Discovery channel or the Food channel or nothing pretty much. The only exception is the train wreck of American Idol. I can’t seem to turn away.

  46. The only show we really keep up with is LOST, but you have to keep up or you don’t know what’s going on. I don’t like shows like that, but in this case, I waited for seasons 1 & 2 to come out on DVD and then watched them all at one time.

For season 3, we are season passholders on iTunes, so whenever a new one comes out, we can download and watch anytime it’s convenient.

    I know, we’re boring too.
