Thursday Thirteen #36 (Thirteen “I Have’s)
Wednesday, November 8, 2006 8:13 PM
Last week, I did a post on Thirteen “I Never’s.” It was actually fun, and someone (Umoja) wondered what things I have done. So, here it is….:)

- I have solved the Rubik’s Cube. It took me a few weeks, but one night I stayed up until 2:00 in the morning and solved it. I did not even take the stickers off or take the thing apart either. Yay, me!
- I swallowed a live goldfish. I worked on a bus route in Bible College (We picked up kids for Sunday School and church whose parents did not want to go to church, but wanted free babysitting for the day. Haha) One Sunday, we had a special day called “Goldfish Sunday.” Every person that went to church that day was able to take home a goldfish. My bus captain told the children that if we reached a certain goal on Sunday, he would swallow a goldfish. We hit the goal, and he swallowed one. How it went from him, to me, I will never know, but I swallowed it. This coming from the girl who will never eat sushi. Haha!
- I went to the Holy Land on my Senior Trip. The “Holy Land” meaning Israel and Jordan. It was really awesome to see the places of the stories you read or learned about in Sunday School. I even got sick and vomited at “Jacob’s Well.”
- I learned sign language by just sitting in the deaf section of my church. I would love to go back and take some classes to be able to do it for “real.” I can interpret, but I still have a hard time understanding when the deaf sign to me.
- I won a state competition in Classical Piano Music my senior year of high school. For two years, I always entered in the Sacred Piano Division, but ended up going against a girl from another school every year who always beat me. So, my senior year, I decided to switch to Classical Music. It took me a year to learn my piece, but I ended up taking first in the state of New Jersey. Yay, me (again.) She ended up with second that year in Sacred because some guy from Asia “kicked her behind!” Tee-hee!
- I played the clarinet for two years in high school and two in college. I have not picked it up in fifteen years, and have forgotten how to play it.
- I kept the record books for all the sports in my high school. I did not have the opportunity to be a cheerleader because of my disability, so the coach asked if I wanted to be the official book keeper. It was even better than being a cheerleader because I was able to sit with the team and flirt with all the guys from the other schools (that is so important when you are in high school). I also was able to travel with the team when the cheerleaders could not go. That is how I learned everything I know about sports.
- I learned how to drive a car with a stick-shift while learning how to drive a car. Ask my dad how well I did too. Right, Daddy?
- I made a lined-suit in sewing class. That was the major project for the class. I was so tiny back then (this was college and I was 95 lbs.), that I could not find a pattern to fit me. So, I had to buy a “young man’s” suit pattern and change it around a bit. Yeah, that did well for my self-esteem. Haha!
- I have been to Niagra Falls. I can barely remember it because I was a little girl when we went there. It would be nice to go back again someday.
- I taught a cooking and nutrition class one year. Yeah, and that was a big joke since I do not really like to cook and I do not eat healthy. Well, I try to now, but I did not when I taught the class.
- I graduated from college with a Math Major. Do not ask me to do any higher level math now.
- I was able to adopt the most beautiful, baby boy ever! Yes, I am a little bias here.

sounds like a great have done list! I’ve never been to Niagra Falls and hope to go one day. Congrats on the baby boy!!! happy tt.
I am visiting from Gawilli’s Back in the Day.
Wow, you have done a lot of impressive things. I have seen Niagara Falls as a child. I was so impressed…so much water…so much power.
Chelle, a fish? That makes me want to throw up!!! Ewwww!!!!

I played the Clarinet, too. I passed it along to someone else when I lost interest, but I bet I could get a good sqauk out of it! I also made a lined suit, but mine was in 4-H. It’s nice to find things in common!
You’re definitely better than me. I had to take my Rubik’s cube apart to get it solved. I guess I never had the patience for it
And #13 is hard to improve upon. He’s so beautiful and sweet. I love him SO much.
OMG…fish? Did it swim in your tummy?

Great list ~ I feel like I know you a little bit better because of it! I have to agree the goldfish is just gross! Happy Thursday!

What a great list… and these were hard things, too! I’m impressed. Kudos to you! Do you still play piano? Happy Thursday and have a great weekend!
DK
Colleen: He\’s actually not a \”baby\” anymore, but I will always think of him that way.
MJD: It was pretty scary seeing it as a little girl too. I felt like it could swallow me.
Sarah: It took all I could muster to not let it come back up again either. Haha!
Gawilli: I could probably only give it a \”squeek\” too. The only note I remember was the G.
Mike: Remember, I was pretty good at the puzzles, just not all the other smart stuff. He is beautiful.
Shoshana: I could actually feel it swimming there for days! Haha. Well, that was probably my imagination, but it still made me sick.
Janene: It was pretty gross. Every time I look at my son\’s goldfish, I makes my stomach turn thinking that I actually swallowed one of those things.
DK: Yes, I still play the piano.
Great list.. well..except for the goldfish one

I made a lined suit in that class, too! I actually loved the class – sewing – but don’t do it because I always felt self-conscious that you could “tell” things were home made AND it is usually so much cheaper to buy now days! I love TARGET mixed with Ann Taylor Loft, of course!
That is the ONLY thing we have in common on that list!!!! Pretty amazing!! I would love to know how to play piano, sign, and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go to the Holy Land before I die.

Wow, you are a really cool, well-rounded person! Right on!
I share #10 with you.
My T-13 is up!
I think that is why I don’t eat sushi, either…Congrats on the Rubis’s cube…I don’t have the patience or the love of puzzles…
Very impressive list! You’ve accomplished a lot!

Great list.
What wonderful memories (except for the goldfish.
) So cool that you won the piano competition in high school.
Happy T13.

Swallowing a gold fish is one thing on my never to do list, I couldn’t imagine doing it but hats off to you for it! Great list!!
You have done so many wonderful things in your life!
I laughed at your goldfish incident!
Happy Thursday!

OMG. You swallowed a live goldfish. LOL
Very good list. I’m impressed.
What an awesome list!! I love that you learned to sign in church. Happy TT!

I don\’t think I could come up with 13 cool things I have done.
If you have swallowed a live goldfish then you HAVE had sushi! LOL
I would love, LOVE to go to Israel. I WILL go there someday.
Jay said this on November 9th, 2006 at 8:49 am
No goldfish for me. And I’m having enough trouble learning the guitar, that’s wonderful about your piano skills. I understand the hard work it takes to learn an instrument. Great list.

Barb: Yes, I agree, the goldfish was pretty disgusting!
Gracey: It tasted like dirt because it was in a bucket of dirty goldfish water with hundreds of goldfish.
YellowRose: Thanks! I really think I did it to impress a guy that worked on the bus with me.
Jo: I know that Israel is probably not one of the safest places to travel right now, but if you ever get the chance, go.
Amy: I wish you the very best with your adoption. It has been one of my greatest joys!
Debbie: I know! Sewing use to be so cheap to do, not buying the zippers and buttons, not to mention the material and patterns, cost a fortune! It\’s just nice to be ablel to say that I go sew an outfit, it I needed to.
Jen: Hey, thanks!
Regina: Haha, I am not really a patient person either. I just did it to prove something to myself.
Beth: Thanks for stopping by! I have a lot more goals now. Hopefully, I will accomplish those too.
Caylynn: It really was cool winning that prize. That is the last great piece that I ever played. I am sorry I just stopped there.
Norma: Thanks. I\’ll be by soon!
Tep: Brendan is six now. I guess I should have mentioned that.
Michelle: It really was never on my list either. It will never be again.
MommyBa: I am happy to have made you laugh on my account today!
Laurel: My life has been an adventure. I hope it continues.
Ali: Never say never!
Maggie: Yep. It was gross. Haha!
Annamary: Thank you.
Jay: You could totally come up with more than 13, my friend. Yeah, now I do not have to try sushi!
Jam: I would love to learn how to play the guitar!
The Rubik’s cube used to be the craze around here when my kids were home. Haven’t tried one of those in years.
One of our projects to sew in school was a lined suit! And, I had to finish a girlfriend’s, and made another one for a friend. Also, made one for a friend I worked with, when she was getting married.
My TT is up.

You ate a live goldfish?? Ewwww! This coming from a girl who DOES eat sushi. lol.
I admire your sewing ability. We were required to take home economics, and my cooking ability was never questioned by my teacher. However, I cannot sew to save my life.
Happy TT! Thanks for stopping by!

Very interesting! And of course you have the most gorgeous child on the planet. So do I!
I can’t get over the goldfish one. Ew! And, poor goldfish! Congrats on your child!
Great list! Weird about the goldfish. I wouldn’t do that but I eat sushi.
Happy TT!
Barb: Now, that’s impressive! I barely could make my own, let alone a couple for friends.
Tink: Swallowed. Tink, not “ate.” There’s a big difference!
Bubba: That’s cool! I do not remember any guys in my classes. I do not think they made them in my school.
My 2 Cent’s: It was gross. I will not do it again.
Mommya Bee: I totally agree! Haha!
Haley-O: Yes, I can picture him trying to swim back up too!
N. Mallory: See, I would not eat sushi! At least I just swallowed him like a big pill.
ack! a goldfish!!
i would looove to go to the holy land. i went to the acropolis in athens, and it was aaawweesome! just the old-nes of everything is unreal.

the stick-shift/dad thing brought back some memories – not very happy ones – at least now with 25 years’ experience behind me I know there would be no yelling, so I guess that’s progress! mine’s up – drop by! happy TT!
quite a lot of achievements – great going! my tt’s up!
